Vermont newspaper looking to hire cartoonist

Our good friend Jade Harmon informed us this week that the Brattleboro Commons, a fiesty monthly newspaper in the southern Vermont town is looking to hire an editorial cartoonist.

Yes, we said hire. And no, we don't know how much.

The ideal candidate would draw editorial cartoonists based on local issues and some additional art to go along with news stories.

Hi folks - sorry to inform you that our budget can no longer support the story-illustration aspect of this post. We're primarily looking for a clever political cartoonist.

Per our Editor, Kate Casa:
"The Commons is always on the lookout for local talent. We have one regular cartoonist but we're looking to diversify — whether that means adding more people or switching to someone on a regular basis. There is no formal application; we're not talking major money here.
We pay $35-40 per cartoon, and at the moment we're a monthly, although we're hoping to increase the frequency of our publication schedule in the near future."

There is also discussion of having a local comics page, if we get enough comic makers dedicated to meeting deadlines.

So what are you waiting for????
