TREES & HILLS MINI-ANTHOLOGY

In late October, both Trees & Hills co-founders plan to be tabling at conventions, so we've decided to put together a Trees & Hills mini-anthology! It is open to any cartoonist currently living in Vermont, New Hampshire, or western Massachusetts, plus some friends & neighbors. The working title is Trees & Hills 'n' Friends. Here's what you need to know to submit:

Format: 5.5"w x 8.5"h, black & white minicomic. Please make sure your submission fits the page size LEGIBLY. We will be printing on photocopiers, so we discourage the use of grey tones.

Deadline: September 30, 2006. The earlier you can let us know how many pages you think you are submitting, the better.

Content: There is no theme; we just want to showcase the variety of comics being created in the area. Original work is great, but feel free to dig out that piece you did that never got printed, or from that mini you don't feel like reprinting (or whatever). We are also looking for front & back cover images.

Details: Contibutors will receive copies of the anthology. If you live in Vermont, email your low-res submission to barlowdaniel at gmail dot com; if in New Hampshire, send it to colin at artforest dot org; if in Massachusetts, take your pick! You may also send photocopies (reduced to print size, please) to Colin Tedford, PO Box 645, Winchester NH 03470.

Open Submissions for Warren Ellis Web-comic Site

http://www.warrenellis.com/?p=2884

Last week comic writer Warren Ellis posted that he is going to curate a web-comic site. He is taking submissions until the end of August. He requires three finished pages and a written overview. Sorry for not posting this sooner, I've been very busy. And, I tend to assume that everyone goes to the same websites I go to. Anyway, give the link a look if you're interested.

Sequential Meet-Up

It's that time again: I would like to invite any & all cartoonists in VT, NH and western MA (and beyond, if inclined) to a gathering of cartoonists on Saturday, August 19 from 12-5pm. We will meet in the sunny, well-tabled food court of the Colony Mill Marketplace in Keene, NH. The food court is near the Gilbo Ave. entrance. NOTE: this event is not sponsored by the venue; the venue is a convenient public place. We'll probably meet elsewhere in the future, but it's a nice enough space to work and socialize in. Bring your comic-making supplies and prepare for creation and camaraderie - and if you have "product" (comics - mini or otherwise, t-shirts, etc.) feel free to bring some to sell or trade! I run a mini comics distro and will be buying comics. For more info or to RSVP, post a comment or email colin at artforest dot org.
